TerraTech is recognized for the design and installation of tieback retaining walls. Tieback walls are unique because they are constructed during excavation without disturbing the roadway or structures immediately behind the face of the wall. In addition to excavation support systems, tieback walls are used for bridge abutments and landslide stabilization. The lateral earth pressures on the wall are distributed to the tiebacks by Soldier Piles, Steel Sheet Piling, or Caissons. Tiebacks are constructed by inserting and grouting a steel tendon into a drilled hole behind the wall. Tiebacks develop their strength by the bond between the grout and the earth. Tiebacks are then post-tensioned against the piling. A variety of facings can be used. TerraTech's patented precast system is often selected for its appearance and economy.
